"At the moment, GirlsDrawinGirls is not actively recruiting new members for 2010. Please check back with us next year!"
2010 GDG policies:
Starting January 2010, GDG will begin to implement membership dues for all active members of $30 a year, in addition to collecting a 10% commission on all merchandise sales.
*What do I get out of it?
As an active member of GDG, your membership counts for a lot! Membership gives you the opportunity to have access to an ever growing pool of creative and artistic women working in animation and the arts. We give you the opportunity to promote and publicize yourself and your art via art shows, merchandise booths, and group collaborations (books, etc). Being in GDG gives us the collective power and strength to reach a wider audience of fans and higher profile projects (i.e. the Vader project, the Nat. Geo documentary, etc, NPR and media reviews).
*Will there be financial transparency? Who's going to balance the books?
GDG will maintain a dedicated member - Anne Walker - to the Treasurer duties. Anne has kindly stepped into this role, and will manage our financial resources. If you have any questions as to what's going where, you will have access to that knowledge.
*What if I need a break from the group or can't afford the membership fee?
You will be able to go into Inactive status. You will be removed from the yahoo mailing list, and will be unable to participate in any GDG event/ sales, but once you opt back in and pay dues, you will be restored to active status. Being inactive won't prevent you from joining back at a later date! It also helps us keep track of our active members and members who are no longer interested or able to remain in the group.
*Will this effect my personal art sales?
Anything you sell personally, from your etsy store or your own shows, is not effected by the 10% commission. Anything sold via GDG at our merchandise booths or through GDG hosted shows will have the 10% commission rate applied in addition to pre-existing gallery percentages. (i.e. if a gallery was a 50/50 split, for a $100 piece, the gallery would receive $50, the artist $45, and GDG $5)
We want this group to succeed and grow, and it's here for the benefit of all. Our mission is not to take your money, but create profit for you and help you promote and sell your art.
If you have any additional questions or concerns not addressed here about any of these upcoming changes, please do not ask us!
